*Little Switzerland nestled in the Alaskan range, roars with natural activity during the month of June. The Pica Glacier creates a dramatic view amid huge granite spires aptly named The Throne, The Trolls, Italy's Boot, Dragon Spire and the Plunger. Towering behind these granite spires are the famous Alaskan Peaks, Mt. McKinley and Mt. Foraker.*New Moon Trip
We spend five days enjoying the heights and sights of Little Switzerland. The first day we fly in our food, fuel and gear from Talkeetna; and build our cozy home on the glacier using snow walls and warm tents.
Once camp is set, we have four days to explore the glacier on skis or snowshoes. Participants learn secure glacier travel with optional rock and ice climbing. Bring sunscreen! With 24-hour daylight, Little Switzerland can be like a white snowy beach surrounded by waves of granite peaks. This is truly a unique side of Alaska that few people experience.
Cost: $1250.00 per person including transportation from Talkeetna to Little Switzerland.
Trapper Creek with Norman Vaughan is a day of history, spectacular views and great cross-country skiing through the Petersville Meadows.Experience the same view that Sydney Laurence painted (weather permitting) while Norman regales you with stories of his 92 years as an adventurer.
This is an all day event, including lunch at the Vaughan's cabin.
Cost: $100.00 per person. Comfortable transportation can be arranged from Anchorage at an additional cost.
Hatcher Pass in July is an overnight backpacking trip up into the Talkeetna Mountains.We will hike the moderately difficult 4.5 miles into Reed Lakes and set up our camp on the sloping meadows of Lower Reed Lake.
Here we will enjoy the dignified granite spire formations surrounding the graceful waterfalls from Upper Reed Lake.
Cost: $125.00 per person. Comfortable transportation can be arranged from Anchorage at an additional cost.
